The Kingston Food Fight began when the Kingston General Hospital's Board of Directors decided to vote on a food service deal with Compas group. This deal would supply the KGH with food from outside of the city, as opposed to food grown locally in Kingston.
Locally produced food keeps local economies strong, and preventing this deal from taking away local jobs is critical to the economic health of Kingston.
