Kawartha Lakes workers unite to send a message to City Council

KAWARTHA LAKES, Ont. – Kawartha Lakes workers have come together to deliver a strong message to City Council: stop contracting out! Canadian Union of Employees (CUPE) Local 855 members – municipal workers with the City of Kawartha Lakes – have reached out to allies likely to be impacted by bad winter road maintenance in order to get their support and sign on to an Open Letter to Kawartha Lakes City Council.

The letter (attached) raises some key concerns with regards to contracting out and asks Council to review this decision and explore other options. Signees include local emergency medical service (EMS) workers, firefighters, school board support workers and mail carriers and postal workers.
