CUPE members on campuses across province will help launch innovative WTF campaign

TORONTO, Ont. – This Tuesday, September 30, university workers across Ontario will ask the question: ‘Where’s the Funding?’

The Ontario University Workers’ Coordinating Committee (OUWCC), the voice of CUPE’s university workers in Ontario, will launch its ‘Where’s the Funding?’ campaign at university campuses across Ontario.

Featuring campus community participation through social media, an informative and interactive web presence and a lot of humour, ‘Where’s the Funding?’ aims to highlight both underfunding of critical university operations and the lack of meaningful transparency rules for university administrations to abide by.

While Ontario’s universities receive billions of dollars in funding from student tuition fees and the provincial and federal governments, they are often not required to provide disclosure of how those funds are spent.

Notice to Assignment and Photo Editors: Media wishing to interview CUPE local union officials taking part in Tuesday’s WTF launch are asked to contact Kevin Wilson, CUPE Communications, at 416-821-6641.
