|URGENT: Message from CUPE Ontario President Fred Hahn
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I am reaching out to you with an urgent request to come to Queen's Park on Monday afternoon, February 28th, at 1:30pm to be in the public galleries when 2nd Reading debate on Bill 150 gets underway.
I know that this is short notice, but the Liberal Government is about to ram through legislation that could one day affect your community and your coworkers.
As Ontario Division President I feel it is vital for all of us to support our own Local Two, to show our solidarity with the ATU and IAM, the two other unions at the TTC, and most important, to demonstrate CUPE ‘s opposition to this divisive, anti-union and totally unnecessary legislation.
The Liberal’s Bill 150 which will remove the right to strike permanently from all workers at the TTC is being rammed through the legislature for no better purpose than to appease Toronto Mayor Rob Ford and, sadly, to further demonize public sector workers.
In the context of Toronto politics today, I feel it is imperative for our union to have a strong presence at the House on Monday afternoon and I am sure I can count on your locals to be there.
Thank you for your support. Please email email@example.com to let us know if you can participate, and visit www.cupe.on.ca regularly to learn more about Bill 150 and its impact.
