Kingston Food Fight
Keep Kingston General Hospital's food local!

Kingston General Hospital has approved a plan to buy factory-made patient meals from an operation west of Toronto. That means millions of dollars that could be spent with farmers, merchants and workers in the Kingston area will disappear down the 401. For several months a local community coalition that includes CUPE, the National Farmers' Union and other labour groups has opposed the deal. The hospital's decision goes against the wishes of 79% of Kingston residents, defies a motion passed by Kingston City Council and ignores the 10,000 people who have personally asked KGH to buy and prepare its food locally.
